Social media visuals are an integral part of any successful marketing strategy. The purpose of running a marketing campaign can certainly vary, one of which is to increase conversion rates.
And visual content is a form of content that is effectively not only used to increase conversions, but also attract attention, engage audiences, and spread brand awareness.
Whether it’s in the form of photos, infographics, or social media videos, all of that can be used as main or complementary content on the brand owner’s official website, blogs, posts, and advertisements on social media, online shopping sites, and so on.
Many studies have stated that visual content is effective in producing high ROI for brands or marketers. So, it is indeed important for brands to utilize content in this visual form.
However, creating effective visuals can be a challenge. There are so many things to consider – color scheme, typography, size, and resolution, to name a few. Here are seven tips for creating epic visuals for social media:
1. Have a clear purpose for your visuals
Visuals are powerful tools for communicating messages and conveying emotions. But for them to be effective, you need to have a clear purpose for using them. Whether you’re trying to sell a product, promote a service, or simply raise awareness for your brand, your visuals should be designed with that specific goal in mind.
For example, What emotion are you trying to evoke? How do you want it to connect with your overall brand identity? Answering these questions will help you create visuals that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also serve a specific purpose.
After that, you can decide the right platforms to use, whether Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube marketing.
2. Use high-quality photos and videos
Poor-quality visuals will only reflect poorly on your brand and turn potential customers away. Especially when it comes to YouTube marketing, you will need to produce high-quality visual content to attract more viewers.
Thus, make sure the visuals you’re sharing are high-quality and look professional. Avoid stock photos as much as possible – they can often look generic and uninspiring compared to custom images that capture the spirit of your brand.
3. Simplicity is key
Cluttered visuals may confuse viewers and lead them away from taking the desired action on your post or ad.
On the other hand, too much negative space may not draw attention either – so make sure you find the happy medium between these two extremes when creating visuals for social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram!
4. Tell a story with your visuals
Strong visuals can tell a story of their own. If you can capture an emotion or convey a message through your imagery, you are more likely to engage your audience and get your point across effectively.
Most people love stories, so try to include one in every visual you create. Whether it’s highlighting customer success stories or showing how people used your product, telling stories through visuals can touch a customer’s heart and increase customer trust in a way words alone can’t.
5. Choose eye-catching thumbnails for videos
Thumbnails have an important role as the audience’s first point of contact to view the content that you present. In addition to attracting readers’ attention, thumbnails will also help readers identify topics to be discussed in your content, whether videos, photos, blogs, and so on.
Therefore, you need to choose a thumbnail that can attract the attention of customers to click on your content. Also, make sure you display visuals that can convey information about the entire content briefly.
6. Choose an appropriate color palette
The color palette and font choice can make or break your visual’s effectiveness. Be careful when choosing these elements so that they don’t clash with each other or come across as too garish or harsh on the eye. Pick 2-3 dominant colors and 1-2 accent colors that work together harmoniously.
7. Be careful not to over-saturate your followers’ feeds.
Just like with any other type of content on social media, it’s important not to over-saturate your followers’ feeds with visual content. Otherwise, they’ll be less likely to engage with your posts and more likely to unsubscribe or unfollow you altogether.
Try to space out your visual posts so they don’t all seem like they’re coming at once, and make sure they’re still relevant and timely even if they’re not all posted at the same time.
Time is an essential part to consider in running social media marketing. Make sure you’re posting your visuals during times when they’re most likely to be seen by your target audience.
Wrapping Up
Eye-catching visual content is a powerful way to tell your brand. Even though visual content is an essential element in digital marketing, unfortunately not all brands or businesses can execute it properly. Creating epic visuals for social media can be a challenge.
Thus, you can start to follow the top tips mentioned above to help you create eye-catching visuals. With these tips, you’ll be able to create epic visuals for social media that will grab attention and help you reach out to potential customers more effectively!

Hi, Ankit. Thanks for reading! These are all important tips indeed. Social media is such a powerful tool if used properly.
Simplicity is the buzzword here Andre. Creating simple visuals makes it easy for social media followers to digest and appreciate the point conveyed. I keep visuals simple because my design brain is that of a caveman. Even now, I draw stick figures and barely write my name in cursive. Keeping it simple makes the most sense. Plus this makes sense for our followers too. All good tips here buddy.

Great points, Ryan. Keeping it simple is important. The key with visuals is to use them to simplify a concept and engage the readers on a deeper level. If you make them too complicated, it defeats the purpose.
