If you thought blogging was easy, you likely wouldn’t be here. You’d be busy toiling away, writing content nobody will ever see because you never took the time to do blogging the right way.
Beginner bloggers, and even experienced bloggers, make tons of mistakes that can keep you from realizing true growth for your blog. Fortunately, there’s a way to avoid them. Learn from the pros who’ve lived the blogging struggle and made it through to the other side.

Takeaways from the chat include:
- How to select the right niche for your blog
- How to make SEO a priority from the start
- Tips for planning and creating blog content
- Ideas for monetizing your blog
- …and a ton more!
Let’s jump into the conversation, shall we?
Q1: First, could you give us some background into what got you into blogging and some info about BloggingExplained.com?
Blogging is an empowering and skill-building endeavor. Whatever career field you’re in or whatever expertise you bring to the table, blogging offers an opportunity to help others grow, as well as the ability for the blogger to grow and boost knowledge to improve thought leadership and boost career potential.
Q2: What tips do you have for new bloggers struggling to choose the right niche for their blog?
Getting started in the blogging world is challenging. One of the biggest challenges new bloggers face is choosing the right niche. There are a lot of factors that go into choosing a niche, and doing so should never be taken lightly.
Q3: SEO should be top of mind from the start. What SEO considerations should bloggers keep in mind when building their blog?
SEO should never be an afterthought. The sooner you build an SEO strategy into your blog, the better-positioned your site will be to grab top search results. Before you launch your blog, you need to build SEO into your overall launch and marketing strategy if you truly want to grow. It’s best to be proactive with SEO rather than having to turn around later and fix things.
Recommended WordPress Hosting Provider: For the fastest hosting speeds for your blog, we recommend Rocket.net. Sign up for Rocket.net here to boost your blog’s speed and performance.
Hosting should not be overlooked when launching your blog. Cheap hosting can be tempting for new bloggers, but it’s best to opt for the fastest hosting available. While that may mean paying a bit more, ultimately, your blog will thrive, and if you monetize your blog the right way, you’ll recoup the money you spend on hosting quickly.
Q4: What tips do you have for planning editorial content to target the right topics to the right audience?
When you start a blog, it’s important to understand that you need to create content your audience actually wants. Let your audience inform the content you create. Don’t assume you know what they want. Do your research, and plan out an editorial calendar to ensure you cover the right topics, in the right ways.

Q5: What are some of the best ways to monetize your blog?
The most successful bloggers approach their blog like an entrepreneur would approach a startup. Part of that involves planning for ways to turn your blogging efforts into a profitable endeavor. There are many different ways you can monetize your blog. The direction you take depends on a number of variables.
Q6: As a business owner, how does launching a blog on your business website differ from someone launching a stand-alone blog?
Blogging takes different forms. Are you a blogger looking to launch a blog that serves to offer (sell) knowledge and advice? Or maybe you’re a business owner launching a blog to boost the profile of your business and gain some SEO value. Whatever the reason you find yourself blogging, that reason could change the way you approach things.
Q7: What tips do you have for content distribution to drive the most qualified, engaged traffic to your blog (and to generate conversions: signups, sales, downloads, etc.)?
The best content has little value if it remains hidden in the depths of the digital world. To ensure that you get the most value out of the content you produce for your blog, you need to have a solid distribution and promotional strategy in place.
Q8: What’s the most important thing you’ve learned along your blogging journey that you want aspiring bloggers to know?

Great Article. Loved the way you have explained each and every point. However, I personally believe every beginner before starting any blog should focus on two things that is why I am writing this blog and for whom I am writing this blog.
