Effective Product Launch Emails To Help You Start Selling

Let’s begin by addressing the elephant in the room.

YES, product launch is hard, and we all have failed at it at some point in our careers. So, does it make us bad marketers?

The answer is NOPE. You just haven’t tried everything that you should have.

In addition to all the hard work you put in, you just need to add product launch emails. These emails will excite the consumers and help you receive an overwhelming response on the first day itself.

So, without any further delay, let me tell you all about it.

Different Types Of Emails Sent Before Product Launch

Here are a few B2C emails sent before launching products. I have categorized them into various types to explain how one can send emails before a product launch.

The Count Down Email

The countdown email is sent before the product launch with a timer in the content.

Why does It work?

The Pre-Order Email

The pre-order mail is a typical email sent a few days or weeks before the product launch. With minimal text and a high-quality image, one can make the recipients curious so they click and take action.

Why does It work?

  • Minimal text
  • Brand oriented email design
  • Builds suspense by mentioning a few details
  • Image-based content to attract customers
  • Prominent CTA that stands out from the rest of the content

The Introduction Email

Another common email sent before launching a product is the “Introduction email”. This piece of content is basically used to introduce a product. The goal is to let the recipients know what they should or shouldn’t expect from the product.

Why does It work?

  • Minimal text
  • Brand oriented email design
  • Basic details introducing the product
  • Image based content to attract customers
  • Highlighted CTA

Rewarding Email

In this type of email, the marketers try to create a sense of rewarding the recipients by launching the product.

As you can see in the below email, Apple is using terms like “it’s finally here” and “After months of anticipation” to tell the recipients your wait is over.

Why does It work?

  • Minimal text
  • Brand oriented email design
  • Mentions how good the product is
  • Provides a reason to buy the product
  • Creates a sense of rewarding the recipients
  • Highlighted CTA

Tips To Write Product Launch Emails

1) Write A Hooking Subject line

When you are sending an email before launching the product, you must use an attention-grabbing subject line as it is one of the important factors to increase the email open rates.

Just like any other marketing campaign, the success of your product launch depends on the open rate. This is why it’s important to make sure the recipients open your email so that they can learn about your product and take the necessary action. And, using a hooking subject line is the way to do this.

Here are a few examples:

  • Your wait is over!
  • It’s finally here!
  • Check this out
  • You need to see this
  • 3…2…1
  • Have you heard this?
  • You still have time
  • Here’s your dream {product}

The subject line must make the reader curious enough to open the email and respond to it.

2) Use Minimum Text To Introduce The Product

Your team doesn’t have the time to write an essay, and the same goes for your prospects. This is why one should always use a maximum of five lines to introduce a product or write an email to launch a product.

The text should include a basic introduction of the product, explaining the important features and highlighting its benefits. In addition to this, the text should also incite a sense of urgency and make the reader click on the CTA button.

3) Keep The CTAs Big & Visible

The whole point of sending emails to launch a product is to convince the recipient to take action. The action here can be to “pre-order”, “book”, or “buy” a product. Therefore, it’s crucial to keep CTAs big and visible so that the prospects can easily click on them before changing their minds.

4) Add Images & Videos

Adding relevant but high-quality images & videos can hit the right spot in marketing. If you are a B2C marketer, I recommend using eye-catchy images of the product you are launching. However, B2B should go with product demos or client testimonials before launching a service/product.

5) Use Email Marketing Automation For Follow-Ups

As you might already know, 80% of sales happen after the 5th follow-up email; sending a pre-order email is not enough. Besides introducing the product, you also need to send follow-up emails after the launch.

Because it’s impossible to follow up with each and every one of your clients therefore, using email automation for follow-ups is your best bet.

Final Thoughts

Dear fellow marketers, don’t forget to add emails to your product launch campaigns. You can send these emails at calculated intervals to build anticipation amongst your prospects.

Send the first email at least two weeks before the launch to spread the news of a new product. One week before the launch, send the second email to introduce the product. Pick 2 or 3 days prior to the launch to send the countdown email.

Don’t forget to use automation tools for follow-ups!

All the best for upcoming campaigns.

  1. The lead in is so good! Folks judge themselves for screwing up a launch then literally base the bulk of their career on that mess-up. Not a good idea because if you define yourself and your business campaign on past failures you are doomed to repeat the failure. Stop judging yourself and your launches and start learning. Let go what did not work. Begin doing what works by paying close attention to professionals.
