E-mail is the most important means of communication, information distribution and management of various business processes. Email has many benefits, but it is because of these benefits that the main risks associated with its use arise.
Pretty much every online marketing campaign these days includes email newsletters.
While social media has its place, email is always the most personal form of contact you can establish online.
Well-written newsletters can get links, joint venture opportunities, clients, and just about any other good outcome you can think of.
The only problem is that most people can’t write a good newsletter.
Another issue is finding emails addresses in the first place. Beyond collecting leads on your website, there are other ways to boost your list.
For example, if you want to find emails for targeted individuals at specific companies, you can use a tool like email hunter, which generates generic address templates for the leads. Then you can use different tools to check which emails are correct.
Once you have your lists build, if you still aren’t getting responses, there are likely several reasons. Let’s take a look at 6 of the top ones.

Several reasons why your emails aren’t getting a response
You sent an email. You are waiting for a quick response. You are waiting and waiting. But, unfortunately there is no response.
Maybe you did something wrong? Maybe you just need to verify an email address?
Here is the list of the several reasons why your emails are being ignored:
#1 – Your email is too long
Most of us like our emails to be comprehensive. Our natural bias is to post and share a lot of information beyond what needs to be shared. If you send emails over 200-500 words to recipients without their request, it gives too much.
Keep it short, sweet, and to the point. To manage overall time and make emails easier to consume, shorten their length.
Most of us will delete longer emails or simply skim them and move on. Highlight key points and use markers for an easier overview. The simpler your emails look, the more likely they are to be read and answered.
#2 – The email addresses are invalid
If you are going to receive a response, you must use the correct email address. When you go through your lists, you need to be sure that these addresses will not be returned. Before sending emails, first use an email address checker to check if the email address is valid or not.
#3 – Your email is too wordy and has a lot of mistakes
After spending a significant amount of time writing the best possible email, some people strive to send it immediately with limited to no review.
However, it’s worth reading it again to check for errors. Even if the content is great and your product / service is perfect for the prospect, if it doesn’t look good, people will think it isn’t. This includes spelling and grammatical errors. It’s also important to check for issues with email formatting, including your links.
#4 – Spam subject lines
Even if you yourself never send spam, your emails may be flagged if your IP address has been used to send spam in the past.
If you submit your campaigns through an email marketing service, your email is delivered through their servers. Thus, if at least one other client is sending spam, it can also affect your deliverability.
#5 – You send irrelevant emails to your leads
Sending emails that are not personalized and have a faint copy tells your potential customers that you don’t care where they are on the buyer’s journey, or their personal needs.
Each prospect is different. Each of them works in a certain industry, is at different stages of their journey and needs different content to receive an adequate education.
When you send the same emails to all potential customers, it won’t matter for a significant portion of them. When a letter is irrelevant to someone, they will not read it and of course will not answer.
#6 – No follow-up
Follow-up is critical to the success of the campaign. Instead of sending a new email, we keep all subsequent activities in the same thread as the original email.
Solutions to get response
If clients don’t respond to your emails on time or at all, the problem is probably that they just don’t need them. At least once in our life, each of us has received very long letters. When we see massive paragraphs of text, we feel jaded only at the thought that this message needs to be parsed in order to find something important. You just don’t read such letters! So what do you expect from clients then?
Here are a few impactful tips to help you improve the results of your emails.
- Get rid of all stop words and phrases. The rules of email newsletters for marketers also apply to business correspondence. An important email with a bad headline won’t get attention. The subject line of your email should be clear and actionable.
- Use a subject line adapted for reading from smartphones. Nowadays, many people parse emails on their mobile phones. The same applies to the first line of your letter.
- Use the first line of the letter as a motivation to read the letter further. Various channels are used to communicate with clients. For some needs, email is not the best solution.
- Chats and instant messengers are suitable for solving urgent issues. Some tasks require thoughtfulness, compromise or discussion, for which email newsletters are not suited. The best solution for such tasks is a phone call or video chat. And this is logical when several people participate in the discussion at once.
Nowadays, there are a lot of technologies for social interaction. Your goal is to get a response to your letter. Before sending an e-mail message, consider how effective this method is in achieving your goal.

- Reasons Why Your Emails Aren’t Getting A Response - March 15, 2021
The thing I find neat Bella in terms of #1 is that my 3 line emails get the most clicks and opens. I dress up the link with literally 2 lines and people from my list click through. Anything more, and the opens and clicks drop. That is just my readers though. Overall, shorter is better because few folks have patience enough to read 1000 words of text in an email, of all spots online.
I agree completely, Ryan. I’ve worked with clients who always wanted to stuff emails full of every detail they coulc think of. Despite giving them advice to the contrary, they pushed ahead. The results were always the same. Very limited activity. When we changed the message and went short, the clicks rose significantly!
