Developing a WordPress website is as easy as taking a walk in the park. Built keeping the everyday technologically unfit man in mind, WordPress ensures that their software caters to newbies. Creating your website is as simple as following five easy steps, here’s how:

1)    Deem Your Domain

The first step to creating your website is deciding what it will be called. Your site’s address is known as its domain; it is how people will locate your presence on the world wide web. Your website’s identity is crucial to how people will remember it, and so you must select the right domain name.

Use sources such as GoDaddy or Domai.nr to fry up some particularly smart ones. While most domains will cost a small fee, it is possible to opt for a free one via WordPress itself.

2)    Pick Your Host

Selecting a web hosting service is the first material the key to kickstarting your web development journey. Registering with a web host is similar to registering yourself on the internet so that your website is displayed.

Typically, basic web hosting can cost anywhere from $5 to $50 with the more you dish out, the more benefits you will be able to avail. If you opt for a higher-ranked hosting service, you’re likely to dip into greater security, faster speed and overall better functionality for your website. Prime web hosts include Flywheel, Pressable and Liquid Web.

3)    Link Your Site to WordPress

So, now that you’ve gotten your domain and web host, it’s time to start constructing your website.

The first step in doing this is installing WordPress onto your site so that it can be customized as per your requirements. After a successful installation, the user will be able to set up a theme for their website as well as adding plugins and content.

4)    Select a Theme

With over 55,000 themes to choose from, WordPress contains a design setting to suit virtually every user’s taste. Designs range from minimalistic, trendy, natural to bold and popping, amongst many others on the spectrum.

Users have the choice to opt for free themes which can be accessed from the WordPress dashboard or to go for premium themes. Premium themes hold a fee to be obtained.

5)    Content, Content and More Content!

By this point, you will have a new website in front of you that carries your desired aesthetic but is devoid of any quality content.

Adding content is done through two ways: pages and posts. Pages create the structure of your website and determine the different navigational areas that your viewers can access. They form the basis upon which further content resides, whereas posts are individual pieces of information.

Users should add both to their website to give it a proper structure. Additionally, they can add specific features to their site by adding widgets.

  1. I appreciate the useful advice. Small company owners produce content about whatever they want without any type of plan in place, and then they wonder why it isn’t producing the desired results. I wholeheartedly concur that social listening should be a component of any content strategy, but there are proper and improper ways to go about it.

    • Yes! Some business owners think content marketing doesn’t work because they pieced together a few blogs with little to no direction and they heard crickets. Each blog you write should be carefully crafted with your audience’s needs as well as your blog’s or business’ growth in mind.
